The City’s Urban Planning and Design (UPD) Department: Local Planning Support (LPS) Branch has developed various resources for the Small-Scale Rental Units and Affordable Housing sector to ensure development complies with policy and regulation.

About

We focus on promoting sustainable neighbourhoods within communities and work in close collaboration with other City departments, property owners, micro-developers, and other stakeholders.

Our role is to:

  • promote income generation,
  • increase affordable housing opportunities, and
  • develop sustainable urban growth.

Plan and Build It Right

Our Plan and Build It Right newsletter is a departmental initiative for practitioners in the building and planning industry. It provides important information relating to legislation, processes and requirements applicable to building and land use development applications.
